Dance celebration supports students

Dancers will soon leap, tumble and step across the stage at Farmington High School to help raise funds for the school's senior class party.

"For the Love of Dance" will showcase popular movement and dance styles from jazz and pom routines to hip-hop and Lindy hop. Local and regional performers will join student dance groups on the event's talent roster.

Many of these groups are highly awarded, including the University of Minnesota Ballroom Dance Team, which is currently ranked third in the nation.

Dance groups include:

• Rhythm and Swing

• USA Dance - Minnesota

• Ballet Royale

• Dance Connection

• Dance-Twirl Minnesota

• FHS Dance Team

• Fred Astaire Dance Studio

• JAMM Dance Co

• Just For Kix

• South Metro Dance Academy

• Studio 4 Dance

• Synergy Dance Center

Actor and puppeteer James Schiffman, winner of a regional Emmy Award, will host the event.

"For the Love of Dance" will take place 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, in the Farmington High School gymnasium. Tickets cost $8 for adults, $5 for students and children under 5 get in free.

This fundraiser will support the FHS senior class party: a safe, fun and substance-free event for graduates happening June 2018.
