Ardis Berns, 57, of Farmington, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, with her family beside her after losing her courageous battle with cancer.
Ardis was born to Oscar and Myrtle (Johnson) Gudmundson on May 21, 1952 in Ivanhoe, Minn. She was the youngest of 12 children. Ardis graduated from Ivanhoe High School in 1970. She was united in marriage to Joseph John Berns on June 12, 1971, Ivanhoe, Minn. Ardis worked 19 years at Carquest and seven years at Wausau. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and visiting family and friends. Ardis is survived by: her husband, Joseph, of Farmington; her three daughters: Stephanie (Mike) Rynes of Troy, Ill.; Sarah (Todd) Wittman, Burnsville, Minn.; and Kristen (Ben) Wolfs, of Austin, Minn.; grandchildren: Frankie Rynes; Kara and Nichole Wolfs; two step-grandchildren, Caleb and Sarah Wittman; four sisters: Dorothy Lein, Marshall, Minn, Joan Anderson, Rapid City, S.D. and Norma (Richard) Moeller, Redwood Falls, Minn.; Clarice (Steven) Mattoon, Lewiston, Idaho; three brothers: Willard, Issaquah, Wash., Gordon Lyndwood, Wash. and Dean Gudmundson of Marshall, Minn.; and many other relatives and friends. Ardis was preceded in death by son, Jonathan Berns; her parents; one sister and three brothers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 4, 2009 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 22120 Denmark Ave., Farmington with visitation one hour prior to Mass. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Please sign guestbook at: www.whitefuneralhomes.com.
