Baseball: Jolliff's big night keys road victory
On a night where 19 runs scored, 24 hits were pounded out and eight errors were committed, a bunt ended up being the difference.
Matt Rudorfer's suicide squeeze bunt scored Justin Tang with Farmington's 10th run in the top of the eighth inning last Tuesday at New Prague and the Tigers held on for a 10-9 win over the Trojans.
The back-and-forth game moved into the eighth tied at 7-7. Steven Barber and Tang got the eighth started with a pair of singles and, after a run-scoring wild pitch gave the Tigers the lead, Tyler Landry ripped an RBI single to make it 9-7.
Rudorfer's squeeze ended up as the winning run after Tang allowed two New Prague runs in the bottom of the inning.
Tang and Mike Jolliff each ended up with three hits. Jolliff tripled in the second, doubled in the fourth and smashed a three-run home run in the top of the fifth.
Justin Lavey started on the mound and lasted six innings. He allowed four earned runs on nine hits while striking out two.
