Boys basketball: Tigers split a pair
The Farmington boys basketball team split a pair of games last week.
Still in the early part of the schedule the 2-1 Tigers are playing non-conference opponents. The Missota Conference schedule won't begin until after the holiday break.
Farmington beat Rochester Century 60-47 on Tuesday and lot 64-61 at Owatonna.
Against Owatonna, Farmington trailed 32-27 at halftime, but rallied back in the second half before losing by the close three-point margin.
It was the opposite for the Tigers against Rochester Century.
A strong first half put Farmington up 34-27 at halftime. The Tigers then ran away from the Panthers, leading by as many as 29 in the second half. With Farmington in cruise control, the Tigers held on for the final 13-point victory.
Three players scored in double figures for Farmington.
Josh Zitzmann led the way with 17 points.
Kyle Winkelman and Jake Lippert each scored 16 for the Tigers.
Justin Lavey and Brent Beenken scored four points apiece, and David Steege added three points.
Farmington hosts Rochester Mayo on Dec. 23 before taking an extended holiday leave. The Tigers return to action after the break with a game Dec. 6 at St. Paul Harding.
