Boys golf: May leads Farmington at Dakota, Shakopee meets
Tommy May finished among the leaders at a pair of golf meets last week.
The Farmington junior shot nine-hole scores of 37 and 38 for a total score of 75 at Saturday's Dakota County Invitational at Emerald Greens Golf Course. He continued his consistent play with a 38 and a 39 for a total score of 77 at the Shakopee Invite Monday afternoon.
The Tigers shot a team score of 332 to place 14th out of 17 at Shakopee. Senior Matt Provost was five shots back of May with a round of 82, Mike Dalhed shot an 86 and Cooper Loew carded an 87 for the team's final counting score.
Jacob Hanson (88) and Trevor Hockert (92) rounded out the varsity lineup.
The Tigers were nine shots better at last Saturday's meet, carding a 323 to place seventh out of eight teams.
Lakeville North won the meet, beating runner-up Eagan, 293-300. Eastview (303), Rosemount (310), Hastings (311), Apple Valley (319) and Simley (339) also competed.
Hanson emerged to serve as the Tigers' No. 2 golfer at Emerald Greens, firing a 37 on the front nine en route to a round of 82. Loew and Hockert were each a stroke back with matching rounds of 83.
Provost (87) and Dalhed (89) also competed.
The Tigers will be back in action next Tuesday when they travel to Mississippi National Golf Links for their third Missota Conference meet of the season.
