Boys golf: May's 78 leads Tigers
First-year head boys golf coach Jon Holmes plans to juggle his varsity lineup for tonight's meet at Prior Lake after watching his JV team's top six beat his varsity team's top six by three strokes at Monday's season-opening Missota Conference meet.
The Tigers' top six varsity golfers combined to shoot a team score of 520, with the top four golfers earning seventh out of eight teams with a 336 at River Oaks Golf Course. Prior Lake won the meet, 311-315, over runner-up Holy Angels.
Sophomore Tommy May led Farmington with a seventh-place round of 78. He shot a 42 on the front nine, then came back to fire a 36 on the back nine. He hit a team-best 13 fairways and 10 greens in regulation.
The other counting varsity scores came from Brandon Beers, Cooper Loew and Brady Akin, who each turned in rounds of 86. Jake Hanson added an 88 and Sean Rice carded a 96.
The Tiger JV team got a 337 from its top four and a six-person score of 517.
Mike Dalhed led the way with an 18-hole round of 81. Matt Provost was right behind with an 83, Ryan Kelly shot an 86 and Kyle Olson provided a round of 87.
Mitch Reed (88) and Kevin Olund (92) rounded out the JV lineup.
