"We ran into a stiff, defensive-minded, ball-control team. Time of possession favored them, 75-25 percent," Farmington coach Paul Sorensen said. "We just weren't up for the challenge tonight.... It was a tough loss because I felt we matched up pretty well and our talent level was definitely there.... We will learn from this and move forward."

The Tigers, coming off a season-opening victory over Simley earlier in the week, led 1-0 before Lakeville North surged ahead.

"We were slow to our own slides defensively and didn't capitalize when we had our chances," Sorensen said. "We need to be quicker to react and tougher in the trenches. Offensively, we moved the ball well, settled it down, but were hesitant to take the shot in some key situations."

Matt Ackerman led the Tigers with a pair of goals. Brendon Berg and Mitch Collier each added goals.

Jacob Bauman and Trevor Howard each had an assist.

Goaltender Charlie Weierke stopped five of 14 Lakeville North shots.

The Tigers (1-1) compete again tonight when they travel to Chanhassen to face Chaska/Chanhassen. The team plays at Lakeville South Saturday before turning home to face Rochester Mayo next Tuesday.
