rThe trial schedule has been set for a 21-year-old Farmington man facing several felony charges related to child pornography.

Miles Kielas appeared in Dakota County court April 29. At that time, according to Dakota County Attorney’s Office spokesperson Monica Jensen, a contested omnibus hearing was scheduled for 9 a.m. June 27.

What that means, Jensen said, is that Kielas’ defense attorney is contesting some of the evidence on file. The county will not find out what evidence is being contested until that hearing.

A settlement conference has been scheduled for Oct. 15, Jensen said. That meeting will be the last opportunity for the defense and Kielas to decide whether they want to take a plea, or move ahead to a jury trial.

If Kielas chooses to move ahead, a trial will begin Nov. 17.

Kielas was arrested Feb. 27, nine days after agents from the Department of Homeland Security executed a search warrant at his Farmington home. Then 20, Kielas was allegedly in possession of 56 photographs deemed to contain pornographic content, as well as a home video of Kielas becoming aroused while watching a young boy.

He faces felony charges for soliciting a child to engage in sexual conduct, producing obscene material and possession of pornographic work.
