There will be three proposals for new elementary boundaries and two proposals for new middle school boundaries presented at a special board meeting on Monday Oct. 20.

The District 192 Boundary Committee met Tuesday night to finish work on the proposals, all of which reflect the committee's goals of keeping neighborhoods together, promoting stability considering expected population and enrollment growth, and maximizing facility and transportation efficiency.

Along with the special School Board meeting on Oct. 20, which will start at 6 p.m. in the FHS little theater, there are two other public presentations planned. The first will be in the Akin Road Elementary media center at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21. The second meeting will be in the FHS Little Theater on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m.

Priess said the boundary committee will present the proposals and ask attendees to break into small groups to discuss their reactions and then submit written comments for the committee to review. The committee will take those comments into consideration and adjust proposals as appropriate. After changes are made, additional public meetings may be scheduled to present the revised options before a final recommendation is made to the School Board.

Residents can see all three elementary proposals and both middle school proposals online at www.farmington.k12.mn.us/boundaries. Copies will also be made available at each elementary and middle school, and at the District Services Center, located at 421 Walnut Street in downtown Farmington. Questions and comments can also be sent to boundaries@farmington.k12.mn.us.
