Early morning fire destroys Farmington home

No one was hurt in a fire that destroyed an east Farmington home early Friday morning.

Farmington firefighters were called to the 1300 block of Walnut Street at 1:14 a.m., fire chief no. 2 Terry Thraen, said. Upon arrival, firefighters found the entire home in flame.

The Lakeville Fire Department was called in for assistance, Thraen said. The fire was under control within an hour, but firefighters remained on the scene for several hours afterward.

Thraen said a man and a woman were in the home when the fire began but escaped without injury. It is unclear whether the homeowner was one of the two individuals inside.

Farmington fire marshal John Powers was at a state chief's convention in St. Cloud at the time of the fire so Lakeville fire marshal Brian Carsetensen arrived around 4 a.m. to begin the investigation.

Fire ighters were aided at the scene by the Farmington Police Department and ALF Ambulance.
