Editorial: We’re thankful for our readers
This has been an unusual year for us here at the Independent Town Pages, and that name right there is a big part of it.
Back in March, as you likely know, we went from publishing two weekly newspapers to one. It was a cost-saving measure, and one we didn’t make rashly. Our focus has always been on keeping things as local as possible, and while that hasn’t changed, our definition of local might look a little different, at least from the outside.
We still cover Farmington and Rosemount the same way we always have. We just put it all together in one paper.
Some of you have told us you like the extra news you find in the paper these days. Others say there’s too much Farmington, or too much Rosemount. And while on our end we know you’re getting just as much from either city as you ever have, we can understand how it might seem like you’re getting shortchanged.
We bring this up now in this season of Thanksgiving to say we are thankful for those of you have stuck with us through these changes. It’s been an adjustment for you, no doubt. It’s been one for us, too.
We’re happy with the results of the merger. We know we’re still the best option readers in Farmington and Rosemount have to find out what’s going on in their city, whether that city.
We’re happy to still be bringing you your local news every week. And we’re happy you’re here to read it.
Thank you for that.
