Farmington High School reunions

The Farmington High School class of 1963 will hold its 45-year reunion Aug. 8 and 9. All graduates are welcome to the Farmington American Legion at 5 p.m. Aug. 8. On Aug. 9 there will be a catered picnic at 3:30 p.m. at Rambling River Park. Bring your own drink.

August 8-10

Class of 1988 reunion

The Farmington High School class of 1988 will hold 20-year reunion events Aug. 8, 9 and 10. There will be an outdoor gathering at 7 p.m. Aug. 8 at the American Legion. There will be a happy hour at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. Aug. 9 and a class of 1988 day at the Dakota County Fair Aug. 10.

Pancake breakfast

There will be a pancake breakfast fund-raiser for Trinity Care Center from 8 to 10 a.m. at Applebees in Lakeville.

The Farmington High School cheerleading team will hold a fund-raiser pancake breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Aug. 9 at Applebee's in Rosemount, 15015 Cimarron Ave. Presale tickets also available from any Farmington Cheerleader.

Red Cross blood drive

Empire entertainment

Empire Township will hold its summer entertainment series Sundays in July and August. Glen Everhart -- the Hebegebee's Family Music Show will perform Aug. 10.

Vacation Bible School

Bible Baptist Church in Farmington will host a free vacation Bible school from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. Aug. 10-14. The event will include crafts, games, music, snacks and Bible lessons. For more information, go to www.bbcfarmington.org.

FMS East picture day

Farmington Middle School East will hold a student schedule/picture day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 12. Students can come at any time during those ours to pick up schedules, have school pictures taken and pay lab costs, among other things. Seventh grade students will also have vision and hearing screening.

August 13

Backpack safety workshop

Dr. Emily Thompson of Hadler Family Chiropractic will hold a free workshop on backpack safety at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Aug. 13. The clinic is located at 625 Eighth St. The clinic will answer questions such as how heavy is too heavy? And how should a backpack be worn?

There will be a community meal at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 14 at Farmington Lutheran Church, 22120 Akin Road, Farmington. The meal is free but a free will offering is accepted. All are welcome. The meals are held the second and fourth Thursday of each month. For information, call Sandy Glau at 651-463-3360.

Motorcycle night

The Farmington Downtown Business Association will host a motorcycle ride-in night from 5 to 10 p.m. Aug. 16. Third Street will be reserved for motorcycles and there will be food, raffles, contests and musical entertainment. This monthly event will run through September.

Steak fry

There will be a steak fry fund-raiser for Trinity Care Center from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday Aug. 16 at the Farmington VFW.

August 17

Hog roast

Castle Rock United Methodist Church will hold its annual hog roast from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 17. The event will feature live music and a silent auction. Castle Rock United Methodist is located at 27890 Delft Ave.

Empire entertainment

Empire Township will hold its summer entertainment series Sundays in July and August.

The Farmington High School marching band will perform Aug. 17.

August 22

Carson Winters benefit

There will be a benefit silent auction and concert from 7:30 to close Aug. 22 at the Farmington Eagles Club. Carson was born 12 weeks early in May of 2007. He weighed just two pounds and has since undergone several surgeries. Proceeds from the benefit will help cover the cost of his recovery.

August 23

Steak fry

The Farmington High School dance team will hold a fund-raiser steak fry from 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Farmington VFW, 420 Third St. Tickets available from dancers or at the event.

Car show

The Southern Cruzers will hold their annual Summer Spectacular car show, craft fair and swap meet from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Dakota County fairgrounds. For more information visit www.thesummerspectacular.com.

August 24

St. Mathias Fun Fest

St. Mathias Parish of Hampton will hold its annual fun fest Aug. 24 at the church grounds, located at the corner of Highway 50 and County Road 47. There will be a polka mass at 10 a.m. with food served from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. There will be a silent auction and entertainment throughout the day. There will be a live auction at 3 p.m.

Back to school bash

The Farmington outdoor pool will hold a back to school bash for middle school students from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Aug. 14. The pool is located at 626 Heritage Way. For more information call the pool at 651-463-3450.

The Farmington Friends of the Library book club will meet at 7 p.m. in the meeting room at the library. The subject of the Aug. 26 meeting is Nothing to do but Stay by Carrie Young.

Andrew Kippley benefit

There will be a benefit concert, dinner and silent auction for Farmington resident Andrew Kippley from 2 to 7 p.m. Sept. 6 at Black Dawg Bar and Grille, 3120 West Hwy. 13 in Burnsville. Trinity Care Center will hold its second annual harvest party from 2:30 to 7 p.m. at the care center.
