December 6

Downtown Holiday Stroll

Farmington's downtown merchants will offer an evening of sales and treats Dec. 6. Anyone who brings a food shelf donation can take a free horse-drawn trolley ride with Santa from 5 to 7 p.m. There will be a community tree lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. followed by free hot cider at B&B Pizza.

Visit with Santa

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at the Farmington VFW club from 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 6. Kids can have their pictures taken and get some treats.

The VFW is located at 421 Third St.

Snowmobile safety class

The Farmington Snow Tigers will hold a snowmobile safety class from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Farmington Eagles Club, 200 Third St.

Craft/bake sale

The Farmington American Legion will hold a craft and bake sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 29. Santa will visit from 1 to 4.

The VFW is located at 421 Third St.

Hoop it up

Homeward Bound Theater Company will offer Hoop it Up from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Dec. 6 at Farmington Middle School. Third- through sixth graders can show off their ability to keep a hula hoop going. Participants will learn the basics such as how to keep a hoop up and tricks ranging from easy to multiple-hoop separations. Students will also learn improvisational theater games, balloon animal sculpting and magic.

Secret Holiday Shop

Kids of all ages can do their holiday shopping Saturday morning at the Rambling River Center. The center's annual holiday shop will give youngsters a chance to get all their shopping out of the way early. There will be people on hand to help anyone who needs it.

Boy Scout tree lot

Farmington Boy Scout Troop 116 will run its Christmas tree lot from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 6 and 7 at the Reisinger Farm on Akin Road. The Scouts will sell trees and wreaths.

Digital camera class

The Dakota County Farmington library will offer a digital camera basics class from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 9. Get hands-on experience taking pictures with a digital camera and learn how to transfer pictures to a computer for editing Classes are free but require registration.

Community meal

Farmington churches will hold their final community meal at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 11 at Farmington Lutheran Church, 20600 Akin Road, Farmington.

Beary Merry Christmas

Farmington residents can visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus from 4 to 6 p.m. Dec. 12 at Castle Rock Bank. The bank will provide pictures with Santa and there will be treats for all guests. The bank will also display Teddy bears dressed by customers. The bears will be given to underprivileged children in the area.

The Farmington Public Library invites children of all ages to Holiday Stories and Movies from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Dec. 12.

Holiday luncheon

St. Mathias Catholic Council of Women of Hampton will hold their annual holiday luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 13 in the basement of the church, located at the corner of Highway 50 and County Road 47. There will be German food, a bake sale and door prizes.

Omelet breakfast

The Farmington Sons of the American Legion will hold their monthly fund-raising omelet breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dec. 14 at the American Legion. Proceeds will go to Toys for Town.

December 15

FHS concert

The Farmington High School band and choir departments will give holiday concerts at 6 and 8 p.m. at the FHS auditorium. A free-will offering will be accepted, with proceeds to benefit to family of Alison Albright.

Talk with the superintendent

The Farmington School District will continue its Conversations with the Superintendent series with a meeting at 6 p.m. at Meadowview Elementary School. The meetings are informal conversations. For information call 651-463-5013.
