Steak fry

The Farmington VFW will hold a steak fry fund-raiser from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 18. The event will raise money for the Trinity Lutheran Church puppet team.

Waggin' Tales

Children can attend a Waggin' Tales program from 10:30 to noon Oct. 18. Children can practice reading skills by reading to different breeds of therapy dogs or have the dog handlers read to them.

Grand Hall sneak peek

Grand Hall Studio, a yoga, pilates and group fitness studio, will be open from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 18 to give participants an opportunity to pre-register for classes.

Howl-a-Ween Walk

Wolves Woods and Wildlife will hold a Halloween walk the last three weekends in October. Kids and adults can get up close with native Minnesota animals while trick-or-treating. Wolves Woods and Wildlife is a nonprofit organization that helps people of all ages an with varying physical abilities create a lasting relationship with nature.

Community meal

There is a community meal at 5:30 p.m. the second and fourth Thursday of the month at Farmington Lutheran Church, 20600 Akin Road, Farmington. The meal is free but a free will offering is accepted. Magic show

The Dakota County Library in Farmington will present a spooky, not scary, magic show with Brian Richards from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Oct. 24. Space is limited.

October 25

Fall festival

Faith United Methodist Church will hold a fall festival from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 26. The public is invited for games, crafts and food. The Teddy Bear Band will play. There is no charge but the church asks anyone who attends to bring a donation for the Farmington Food Shelf.

Grand Hall Studio, located on the second floor of the Exchange Bank building, will host a free Halloween open house and sneak peek from 12 to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 25. Bring the kids for Halloween fun and games.

The Farmington Friends of the Library book club meets the fourth Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. in the meeting room at the Farmington Library. For Oct. 28 the book is Slaves in the Family by Edward Ball.

Diabetes support group

The Farmington Diabetes Support group will meet at Allina Medical Clinic in Farmington, 3500 213th St. W. Meetings are run by the group participants. All are welcome to attend. The topic of the Oct. 30 meeting is the effect of neurology on diabetes.

Craft and bake sale

Farmington Lutheran Church will hold its annual craft and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 1. There will be coffee, rolls and lunch available. The church is located at 20600 Akin Road.

Stroke screening

Family storytime

The Dakota County Library in Farmington will hold a family storytime from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Nov. 7. The event normally includes stories, fingerplays and a craft.

KDK Day

There will be a fund-raiser steak fry and concert Nov. 8 at the Farmington VFW to benefit young adults with physical and mental disabilities. There will be bingo from 1 to 3 p.m., a steak fry from 4 to 8 and live music from 8 to close. The VFW is located at 421 Third St.
