Farmington man charged after biting girlfriend’s ear off
A 24-year-old Farmington man has been charged with assault and interfering with a 911 call following a fight early on the morning of March 30 in which he allegedly bit off part of his girlfriend’s ear.
According to a complaint filed in the Dakota County Attorney’s office, the fight started after Tony Wayne Todd and his girlfriend returned to the woman’s apartment after a night out at two different bars. According to the woman, they argued because Todd doesn’t like it when she drinks. He got angry and told her he was going to punish her, the report states.
The woman, who had been dating Todd for about three months, told police Todd punched and choked her and bit her on the arm and the ear. When police arrived part of the woman’s ear was missing. Doctors were not able to reattach it.Police arrived at the woman’s apartment after a neighbor reported hearing a loud fight. He told police he heard a man yell, “I’m going to beat the hell out of you.”Police heard a man and a woman yelling at each other when they arrived. When they knocked, the yelling stopped and the lights went out. About a minute later, the woman opened the door and police saw Todd trying to escape out a window.The woman told police she’d tried to call 911 but Todd had taken the phone from her.If convicted on a felony assault charge, Todd could face up to 20 years in jail and fines of up to $30,000. A gross misdemeanor charge of interfering with a 911 call has a maximum sentence of one year and a maximum fine of $3,000.
