Farmington man faces child pornography charges after posting photos of ex
A 19-year-old Farmington man is in trouble after he apparently posted sexually explicit photos of an ex-girlfriend online in an attempt to get back together with her.
The Dakota County Attorney's office filed child pornography charges this week against Thomas Norwyn Fischer after Fischer reportedly used the threat of distributing the photos to convince his ex, who was 17 at the time the photos were taken, to come back to him.
According to the complaint filed in the attorney's office Fischer's ex reported his threats to police on Oct. 14. She said Fischer, now a student at South Dakota State University, had begun calling and texting her in an attempt to resume their relationship. In September he threatened to distribute the photos if she wouldn't talk to him. He sent the girl a link to a web site where about a half-dozen photos were posted.
Confronted by police, Fischer at first said his ex had taken the photos herself and would not answer questions directly. In a later interview he told police he'd "briefly" had possession of the photos and that he'd posted them online because he was upset with his ex.
The county attorney's office has filed two felony child pornography charges against Fischer. Each carries a potential sentence of up to five years and fines of up to $5,000.
