Farmington Marine met President Obama at an event paying tribute to fallen officers
Farmington High School graduate Ashton DeFusco had a close encounter with President Barack Obama at a recent event in Washington, D.C.
DeFusco, who was a member of the Tiger swim team starting in middle school, got a handshake from the President at an event held in honor of officers who died last year in the line of duty. Her father died Aug. 31 last year in a plane crash in Colorado. Obama spoke at a ceremony last week.
DeFusco walked into a Marine recruiting when she was a sophomore at FHS. She graduated three months early in March of 2012 and left for boot camp two days later. While at FHS she and another student started a military club to raise awareness of the sacrifices made by military men and women.
