Farmington no-hit at Lakeville North
Farmington managed just one baserunner on Monday against Lakeville North -- and he was picked off.
It was that kind of night for the Senior Babe Ruth baseball team, which was no-hit in a 10-0, five-inning loss in Lakeville.
The pitching and defense also faltered as starter Matt Molitor gave up seven runs (three earned) over the first 1 2/3 innings. Relief pitcher Andy Sharratt ate up the final 2 1/3 innings and surrendered three runs (one earned).
All three phases of the game were better in last Thursday's game against Apple Valley, but Farmington still suffered a 5-3 home loss.
Apple Valley took an early lead with two runs on four hits against starter Drew Bogue in the top of the first. It was 3-0 before Farmington got in the scoring column in the fourth.
Molitor started the inning with a single, stole second and third and scored on a ground out by Brett Hoffman.
Apple Valley responded with a solo home run against reliever Andy Morris in the top of the fifth, but Molitor answered with a two-run shot in the bottom of the frame to make it 4-3.
