MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF
INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 192 HELD ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2008, AT 7:00 P.M. IN THE LITTLE THEATER AT FARMINGTON HIGH SCHOOL,
800 DENMARK AVENUE, FARMINGTON, MINNESOTA
The open forum was held at 6:15 p.m. prior to the regular meeting. Community members and school board candidates asked a number of questions on topics such as minutes of the September 18, 2008 closed School Board Meeting, Select 105 Health Plan, Superintendent's contract and severance pay, and the bond sale.
Chair McKnight called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance. Members present were: Weyandt, Manthey, McKnight, Heman, Donnelly, and Superintendent Meeks. Absent: Kampf. Other staff and community members were also present.
Superintendent Meeks acknowledged the district's good news. Board members shared their remarks.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on 8/25, the special meeting on 9/8, the work session on 9/8/08, the special meetings on 9/9 and 9/10 were approved as presented on a 5-0 vote.
The following consent items were approved as presented on a 5-0 vote: September Claims and Accounts, Certified Employments, Non-Certified Employments, Non-Certified Resignations, Non-Certified Change of Status, Extra-Curricular Employments, Intermediate School District 917 minutes, Part-Time Teacher Program, and Extended Field Trips.
Recommended actions approved: Approval of the sale of General Obligation Taxable OPEB Bonds, certification of the proposed property tax levy for 2008, Payable 2009, change orders for the new high school, the 2007-2008 annual report on Curriculum, Instruction and Student Achievement, MSBA and the MSBA Insurance Trust Trustees.
The reports and communications presented: Board Member Assignments to PTP's, Enrollment Report, Board Vacancy Process, and Superintendent Evaluation Summary.
The following policies were presented: Policy #GCBC - Worker's Compensation Benefit, Policy #JAF - Student Discipline and Policy #JICK - Bullying Prohibition. Policy # GCE - Tutoring of Students was adopted.
