Senior all-stater Kaitlyn O’Reilly broke a pair of pool records in leading the Tigers to a 95-89 triumph over the Gators at the Dodge Middle School pool.

“The team was really fired up and ready to go. The results speak for themselves – amazing performances across the board,” coach Jen Marshall said. “As long as the team keeps focused and working with tenacity in practice, they will have a stellar season.”

Northfield opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay, but the Tigers kept the score close by taking the next two places. Cora Ruzicka followed with a winning effort in the 200 freestyle and O’Reilly broke an 11-year-old pool record in winning the 200 individual medley in 2 minutes, 10.07 seconds.

Kirsten Kracke and Grace Roach followed with a 1-2 finish in the 50 freestyle and Catherine Gehrke won the 500 freestyle.

The Tigers then earned 12 points with a 1-2 showing in the 200 freestyle relay. Kracke, Chelsea Gehrke, O’Reilly and Ruzicka formed the first-place unit.

Kracke came back to win the 100 backstroke by nearly three seconds and O’Reilly broke the old pool record while placing second in the 100 breaststroke.

Ellie Sundet added a runner-up finish in the 100 freestyle.

The Tigers resume their Missota Conference dual schedule tonight at Twin Bluff Middle School when they square off against Red Wing.
