Farmington volleyball: Offense clicks as Tigers up record to 2-0

The pivotal points went Farmington’s way last Thursday night when the Tigers improved to 2-0 on the season with a 25-21, 22-25, 30-28, 25-22 non-conference win over Apple Valley at Tiger Gym.

Three Farmington players reached double figures in kills, led by freshman Emma Fahning’s game-high 17. Fahning’s all-around effort also featured 16 digs, 12 serve receptions and seven ace serves.

Summer Skokan slammed 12 kills of her own and Morgan Cechittini drilled 10 to go along with a team-best 13 blocks.

The trio of attackers was set up by Ruthie Schmitt, who racked up 43 set assists. Schmitt also chipped in defensively with 14 digs and Hanna Baer added 10 digs and 20 serve receptions.

Libero Diana Comes led the Tigers with 30 serve receptions and Skokan provided 21.

The Tigers (2-0) open up Missota Conference play with their third straight home game to start the season tonight at 7 p.m. against Northfield at Tiger Gym. The Raiders enter with a record of 3-0.
