Farmington's Froehling accepts MFCA Power of Influence Award
Farmington football coach Mark Froehling was presented with the Minnesota Football Coaches Association Power of Influence Award at the association's Hall of Fame ceremony April 6 in Minneapolis.
Other award winners were Brent Schroeder of Caledonia (Coach of the Year), Bob Kovich of Lakeville North (Assistant Coach of the Year) and John Gross of Medford (Don Swanson Award). Awards for conference, section and class Coaches of the Year were also given out.
The Power of Influence award is presented annually to a high school football coach whose positive influence is reflected in his community service, mentoring and role modeling, and the lives he has touched and changed.
"It's an unbelievable honor. It's very humbling because I know there are a lot of coaches who do these kinds of things and I look at myself as a representative of those coaches who help young people improve in multiple ways -- in mind, body and spirit," Froehling said. "They learn to have a great heart and live life the right way -- for others. Lots of people are doing those things and my staff and I work together trying to do that -- make a difference in the lives of young men. It's a real honor to be recognized for that effort."
