Farmington's Froehling wins coaching award

Farmington football coach Mark Froehling was recently named the Minnesota Football Coaches Association Power of Influence award winner for 2012.

The award is presented annually to a high school football coach whose positive influence is reflected in his community service, mentoring and role modeling, and the lives he has touched and changed, according to the association's website. It will be presented to Froehling at the MFCA Hall of Fame banquet April 6 at the Doubletree Hotel in Minneapolis.

"It's an unbelievable honor. It's very humbling because I know there are a lot of coaches who do these kinds of things and I look at myself as a representative of those coaches who help young people improve in multiple ways -- in mind, body and spirit," Froehling said. "They learn to have a great heart and live life the right way -- for others. Lots of people are doing those things and my staff and I work together trying to do that -- make a difference in the lives of young men. It's a real honor to be recognized for that effort."
