This week is the last big push for Toys for Town organizers. It's the week when the last few family names come in, the last week for toys and financial donations to be made.

And, come Saturday morning, it's the annual wrapping and distribution for Farmington's Toys for Town gift drive.

According to the Farmington Police Department's Marjorie Boese, the 2010 drive is gearing up to serve the 74 families and 215 kids on this year's list. That number is down from last year, Boese said Monday, but the last week for registration usually pulls in a few more kids and families in need of help during the holidays.

Funding for the 2010 Toys for Town drive has been slow, but steady. Over the past week, several Farmington businesses and organizations have brought in money, and one woman made an anonymous donation of more than $600. On Monday afternoon, the students at Farmington High School came through once again, donating more than $6,000 for the drive, as well.

Boese says the toy and food donations have been trickling in, too. Last week, Toys for Town organizers publicized a list of foods they needed to make up meals for the families on the list. A lot of that food was donated as a result. Toys, too, have been coming in, but Boese said last weekend's snowstorm made it a little more difficult for donors to get out and purchase those extra goodies.

Final donations of food, toys or money can be made through the end of the week. The food donations can be made at the Farmington Food Shelf (call 651- 463-5019 for times), while toys and funds can be donated at the Farmington Police Department.

Wrapping and distribution will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, at Boeckman Middle School. Volunteers are welcome. For more information or to add a family to the list, contact Boese at 651-280-6700.
