Girls basketball: Tigers split weekend games
Farmington Minnesota P.O. Box 192 / 312 Oak St. 55024

A trip to Monticello brought some mixed results for the Farmington girls basketball team.

The Irish opened the weekend tournament with a 66-34 loss to Minneapolis Washburn, then bounced back with an 11-point win over Princeton.

The Tigers stayed close to Washburn in the first half and trailed by just seven at the break, 29-22. But Farmington scored just 12 points in the second half while giving up 37 as Washburn pulled away.

Sofia Chadwick led the way for Farmington with 15 points in the game. She was the only Tiger in double figures.

Alicia Hett had seven points and four rebounds and Abbey Gallus and Sydney Speer each added four points.

Saturday’s game was also close through the first half, but this time it was Farmington that upped its scoring after the break.

Farmington led 24-23 after the first half, then scored 35 points to Princeton’s 25 in the second.

Chadwick was again the leading scorer with 20 points. She also led the way with 10 rebounds and seven assists. Jordyn Homeier had 14 points in the win and Abby Gallus had nine points.
