Girls hockey: Tigers drop three straight

Email

A slumping offense and a difficult slate of opponents made for another tough week for the Farmington girls hockey team.

The Tigers managed just two goals in three games as they slipped to 2-15-1 overall and 1-7 in the league last week. Sixteenth-ranked (Class 1A) Northfield came to Schmitz-Maki Arena last Tuesday and skated away with a 2-0 shutout. The Tigers then hit the road to Chaska Thursday and got dealt a 4-1 setback by Chaska/Chanhassen. The week wrapped up with a 7-1 home loss to third-ranked (Class 1A) Blake.

Blake led 5-0 before Rachael Welzin scored to get the Tigers on the board in the second period. Shaye Jenrich and Breanna Raske provided assists.

Tiger goaltender Maddie Bowe finished with 26 saves.

Rachael Peroutky provided the team's only other goal of the week against Chaska/Chanhassen. Haley Doll assisted.

The Tigers resume their conference schedule tonight at Shakopee.
