Girls track and field: Big Three lead girls to seventh
The Farmington girls track team got a record-setting day from its Big Three while placing seventh out of nine teams at last Tuesday's Section 1AAA True Team Championships in Rochester.
Senior Alyssa Parco, junior Nadia Lorencz and sophomore Izzie Ferm combined to win six events, place second in one and third in two others as they helped the Tigers score 506 1/2 points.
Ferm was the lone triple winner. She broke Lorencz's school record in the triple jump with a leap of 37 feet, 2 3/4 inches and went on to break Tracy Harris's 31-year-old school record in the 400 with a time of 58.62 seconds. She also sprinted to victory in the 200 with a 26.34 clocking and teamed up with Parco, Megan Graham and Alicia Hett for a third-place showing in the 4x200 relay.
Parco defended her meet title in the 300 hurdles with a season-best time of 45.12 seconds and added a victory in the 100 where she clocked in at 12.61, just 31-hundredths from the 29-year-old FHS record.
Lorencz won the 100 hurdles in 15.30, finished second behind Ferm in the triple jump and earned third in the long jump.
The team's only other top-10 finishes came in the long jump where Parco was ninth and the 300 hurdles where Jessica Arey came in 10th in 49.99.
Lakeville South outscored cross-town rival Lakeville North 989-854 ½ for the team title.
