Girls track and field: Eleven firsts carry girls to first-place tie

Farmington swept the relays and came through with first-place finishes in 11 of 18 events while tying host New Prague for first place at last Thursday's New Prague Triangular.

The Tigers and Trojans each finished with 68 points, while Shakopee ended up third with 50 points.

"I thought the meet was a success for our team,"?Farmington coach Tom Hart said. "The ladies competed extremely hard and we had a number of personal records, so we are progressing in the right direction. I think it is a great meet to see where we are coming into a couple of very competitive weeks with some great competition."

Sophomore Izzie Ferm contributed to four of those first-place finishes. She won the 200-meter dash (27.47) and long jump (15 2 1/2) and ran anchor legs of the victorious 4x200 and 4x400 relays.

Ferm was joined by Alyssa Parco, Megan Graham and Jennifer Miller in the 4x200 and Parco, Alicia Hett and Maria Kiminski in the 4x400.

Parco, Kiminski and Lorencz were each part of three first-place efforts.

Parco added a victory in the 300 hurdles (47.58) to her exploits in the relays, Kiminski tacked on top showings in the 400 (1:02.05) and high jump (4-10) and Lorencz won the 100 hurdles (16.74) and triple jump (36-0)? and tied for first in the pole vault (9-0).

The foursome of Natalie Stark, Jessica Arey, Kelly Kornmann and Miller rounded out the relay sweep with a win in the 4x100.

Farmington got runner-up finishes from Hett in the 800, Maricia Pacheco in the 3,200, Abby Haugen in the pole vault and Kelsey Lindell in the high jump.

Aly Grebner added fourth-place efforts in the shot put and discus and Graham came in fourth in the 400.

The Tigers are back in action tonight when they host the Farmington Invitational at Tiger Stadium.
