Glenn Edwin Schroeder, 85, of Red Wing, died on June 15 surrounded by his family.
He was born to Arnold and Leona Schroeder in Detroit Lakes, Minn., on April 22, 1928. He grew up on his family's farm near Detroit Lakes. He graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn., in 1955, and then went on to medical school. While in medical school, he met Daunn Prescott who was working as a nurse, and they were married in 1957. Glenn earned his M.D. from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 1958. He completed his internship and residency at Parkland Hospital in Dallas and Harris Hospital in Fort Worth. Glenn and Daunn returned to Minnesota in 1962. Glenn practiced at the Medical Block Clinic in Red Wing in 1962-63 before entering private practice in obstetrics and gynecology. He retired in 1992.
Glenn had a lifelong love for farming and gardening. He also enjoyed duck and deer hunting.
He is survived by his wife, Daunn, and two daughters, Carolyn Daunn Argentati of Raleigh, N.C., and Jean Gervaise Schroeder of Albuquerque, N.M.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Leona; one infant daughter, Daunn Gervaise; and two brothers, Donald and Clifford Schroeder.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 21, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, with Rev. Justin Boeding officiating. A visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Detroit Lakes at 11 a.m. Monday, June 24.
