Gordon Hennen, age 65, of Farmington and formerly of Hastings, died early Friday morning at the Trinity Care Center in Farmington.

Gordy was born March 2, 1943, the son of Lillian (Rother) and Erven Hennen in Hampton, Minn. He attended school in Hastings and was a graduate of Hastings High School. Gordy worked 35 years for the Minnesota Department of Transportation in the maintenance department. He loved to hunt, fish and spend time gardening, but Gordy's greatest love was anything that involved his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Pius V Catholic Church in Cannon Falls.

Gordy is lovingly survived by his wife, Mary Anne, of Hastings; daughters, Lisa (Breck) Cordes and Stacy (Patrick) Bauer, all of Farmington; his step-children, Erica (Scott) Holm of Federal Way, Wash., and David (Greta) Sandquist of St. Paul; his nine grandchildren; a brother, Howard (Ginger) Hennen of Farmington and a sister, Sharon (Paul) Endres of Hastings, Minn.; by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and by his special friends, Luvern, Jerry and Wally. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles, and his nephew, Terry.

The funeral Mass was at 10:30 am Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at St. Pius V Catholic Church, Cannon Falls. Visitation was from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, in the Lundberg Funeral Home, Cannon Falls, with a 7:30 p.m. Rosary, and one hour prior to Mass at the church. Interment was in the St. Pius V Catholic Cemetery.

Active casket bearers were Mackenzie Bauer, Josh, Jake and Breck Cordes, Patrick Bauer, Paul Endres and Howard Hennen. Honorary casket bearers were Makayla and Rose Bauer.

Memorials are preferred to the School of Sisters of Notre Dame or St. Mathias Catholic School.
