Jeanette L "Jeanie" Thorpe, 73

Jeanette Louise "Jeanie" Thorpe, 73, of Kandiyohi, died Thursday, Feb. 27, at her residence.

Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 7, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar, and on Friday one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Spring at Calvary Cemetery in Willmar.

Memorials are preferred to Calvary Lutheran Church Family Promise.

Jeanie was born on June 20, 1940, in Farmington, Minn., the daughter of Henry and Lily (Johanssen) Robinson. She was Baptized and Confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Jeanie and her family later moved to Cannon Falls, where she graduated from high school in 1958. Following graduation, she went on to further her education at Augsburg College and later Lutheran Bible Institute, where she graduated in 1962.

Jeanie married Gerald Thorpe, the love of her life, on Aug. 25, 1962. They pledged their love at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls. After marriage Jeanie and Jerry took over the Thorpe family farm in rural Kandiyohi.

Jeanie joined Jerry and became a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, where she was active for many years. After joining the church she enjoyed spending time serving on the church council, teaching confirmation class, and she also was a prayer leader at Monday Morning Prayer. Jeanie enjoyed traveling to New Zealand, Alabama, Texas, and Colorado, to visit family. She loved spending time with her family, and working on arts and crafts.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jerry; children: Jeff (Becky) Thorpe of Cold Spring, Don (Ramona) Thorpe of Kandiyohi, Doug (Shannon) Thorpe of Inver Grove Heights, Pam (Roger) Mercer of Waihi, New Zealand, Nikayla Patsy Gibson of Minneapolis, and Michael (Celena) Thorpe of Sumter, S.C.; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings: Ed (Judy) Robinson, Clarke Robinson, Marie (Wayne) Spidahl, Judy Ryan, and Dorothy Briner; sister-in-law, Mardel Graack; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jeanie was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Paul Robinson.
