Letter: Be on the lookout for lice on your students
To the editor,
I was recently told we have a lice problem in our school district. Unfortunately, this was not communicated to me through the school, but through conversation in our community.
Lice can be a vicious cycle. If schools choose not to notify us as parents we have to become our child's advocate and provide precautions for them.
Some of the obvious would be sharing of combs, hats, hair accessories. I am so concerned as a mom and a nurse that I am sending plastic bags for my children to keep backpacks and clothing in at school to avoid this issue. I will continue to do this until they do not share lockers. I would highly recommend all other parents do the same.
Taking simple precautions like the ones mentioned will help avoid this unpleasant nuisance.
