Farmington Police had to use the threat of a Taser to deal with an uncooperative man earlier this month.

On Aug. 5, police were dispatched to a home in Empire Township on a domestic assault call. When police arrived they could smell alcohol. Police talked to two women, identified only by initials in court documents. One of the women told police she and her boyfriend, Issac Wesley Harer, 30, of Farmington, had gotten into a fight about the dog. She said he pushed her against the wall a couple of times, causing her to fall to the floor.

When police entered the house they met a third woman who told them Harer was in the basement. Harer was not cooperative and took an aggressive stance toward the officers who had to threaten to taze him in order for him to cooperate. Harer gave a statement, in which he denied he had pushed anyone against the wall, and claimed that he was the one who had been assaulted.

Witnesses said they heard the two fighting and that Harer had pushed the woman's head into the kitchen cabinets.

Harer has been charged with two counts of domestic assault. He could face up to one year in prison and up to a $3,000 dollar fine on each count.
