Mary Ann Rohde, 81, formerly of Superior, Wis., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, at Augustana Health Care Center of Apple Valley after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
She was born Oct. 22, 1927, in Bayport, the daughter of John and Francis (Erlandson) Price. Mary Ann was raised in Milwaukee, Wis. She married Gilbert Rohde on Sept. 25, 1948 in Finlayson. They moved to Superior, Wis. in 1953. She was a homemaker for most of her life and a mom. In her later life, she enjoyed creating and painting country crafts and sold much of her and Gilbert's works in local craft and gift shops for several years. She also enjoyed cooking, baking and camping.
Mary Ann was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Superior, Wis. In September of 2000, she and Gilbert moved from Superior to Farmington and resided in Spruce Place Senior Apartments. In January of 2005, they moved to Augustana Health Care Center of Apple Valley.?
She is survived by son, Bruce (Jennifer) of Farmington; grandchildren Joshua of St. Paul, Luke of Farmington, Michelle of Eagan and Hannah of Farmington; and great-grandchildren, Juliet, Isabella, Mia and Arissa Rohde. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law Ed Leese Jr. (Arlene); brother-in-law, Curt Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert; her parents; step-father, Ed Leese Sr.; sister and brother-in-law Jean and Robert Schadel; and sister, Merlyn Anderson. ?Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21 at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 14850 Garrett Ave., Apple Valley with the Rev. Leland Johnson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Interment is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
