Mergens fifth in Rosemount four-miler

Twenty Farmington residents competed in Saturday's Run for the Gold road race in Rosemount.

The top Farmington finisher was Chris Mergens, who placed fifth overall out of 195 runners in the four-mile race with a time of 23 minutes, 43 seconds. Rick Schuldt was 26th overall and first in his age group in a time of 28:54 and Dallen Schnichels was 32nd overall and seventh in his age group in 29:25.

The top female finisher from Farmington was Lisa Kresky-Griffin, who crossed the finish line 40th overall and fifth out of the 91 women in the race with a time of 30:16. Farmington High School cross country and track athlete Bailey Opsal was 48th overall and ninth among female competitors in a time of 30:41 and Victoria Jacoby was 58th overall and first in the 13-14 age division in 31:13. Opsal was also the top finisher among seven Farmington runners in the one-mile run with an 11th-place time of 6:09.

Other Farmington four-mile finishers were Jeff Gallus, Robert Dunn, Julie Mogensen, Nici Dunn, Seth Kreger, August Kewitsch, Kris Benjamin, Gail Gruebling, Ella Owens, Shawn Owens, Gretchen Kewitsch, Kelley Benedict, Wanda Widen and Karla Swenke.
