There is a little work left to be done, but the new playground equipment at Fair Hills Park looks inviting all the same.

The new equipment was installed the first week in July, according to Farmington parks and recreation director Randy Distad. The city still needs to pour a concrete border around it, but there are piles of shavings waiting to be spread once the work is done.

The sand volleyball pit has been removed, Distad said, but there are plans to construct a small picnic shelter in the park in 2016. That shelter should hold 25 to 40 people comfortably, and a couple of grills will be installed nearby.

Located off of 193rd Street and Pilot Knob Road, Fair Hills Park is a neighborhood park, Distad said. The city of Farmington is gradually upgrading all of the community’s parks, he added.

Work on the park will be completed soon. The city of Farmington has scheduled at ribbon cutting ceremony for 6:30 p.m. Aug. 13. The ceremony is open to the public.
