Regional chamber rolls out a new look
It’s been a few year since the Dakota County Regional Chamber of Commerce updated its look. And with new leadership at the helm, this seemed like the time.
The DCR rolled out a new website last week. Chamber executive director Vicki Stute said the goal of the new design was to create a more user-friendly website and to freshen up the chamber’s look. The chamber last rebranded in 2007 when it changed from the Northern Dakota County Chamber of Commerce.
“It’s fresh and energetic,” said Stute, who started her tenure as executive director in June 2013.
Stute said the new website design highlights the many ways the chamber serves its member but also simplified the look. The chamber’s new motto is Committed to business … for YOU.The chamber also developed a new vision statement which is, “To be recognized as the premier regional Chamber of Commerce addressing business community needs.”The mission statement further elaborates that the chamber unites the business community to improve members’ success through: advocating public policy, providing networking and professional development opportunities and encouraging economic development.“We want to make sure we are representing our business members at all levels,” said Stute. The chamber has a small staff of three full-time employees and one part-time. But Stute said in each community there is core groups of volunteers that makes the chamber’s work possible. The chamber has more than 500 members with 100 active volunteers.“We have an active business community that makes our work possible,” said Stute.Stute said part of their work involves offering opportunities for people to get engaged in the business community. The chamber hosts more than 200 events a year. Additionally, Stute said they offer groups for young business professionals and women to break it down even further. The DCR serves 12 communities including Rosemount and Farmington. Stute said roughly 25 percent of the chamber’s members are outside the geographic boundaries of Dakota County, meaning the organization is regional in nature.Going forward, Stute said the chamber will put together a strategic plan task force. The hope is to create a long-term strategic plan that will guide the organization into the future. The chamber hosts monthly meetings in Rosemount including Coffee Breaks and the Rosemount Business Council meetings.
