Swimming: Carufel 4th in dive at Apple Valley; Tigers take seventh
A talented field of teams pushed Farmington down to seventh place at last Friday's Apple Valley Invitational.
The Tigers placed four events in the top 10 as they scored 1,525 team points. Stillwater outscored Lakeville South 2,342-1,971 for the team title in a meet that also included teams from Anoka, Lakeville North, Cretin-Derham Hall, Eau Claire, Rochester Mayo and Apple Valley.
Junior Evan Carufel supplied the highest Farmington finish with a fourth-place score of 292.20 points in the 1-meter dive.
Teammate Nick Stephan was the only other top-10 individual place-winner. He earned ninth in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1 minute, 10.38 seconds.
Zach Holton and Aaron Lane were both part of a pair of top-10 relay finishes. They joined Cameron Molnar and Connor Kealy for a ninth-place showing in the 400 freestyle relay and teamed up with Stephan and Tyler Lerbakken to secure 10th in the 200 medley relay.
Holton added an 11th-place swim in the 200 individual medley and a 12th-place showing in the 100 butterfly.
The Tigers are back in action tonight when they host Red Wing for a Missota Conference meet at Dodge Middle School.
