Senior Daniel Berg will represent Farmington on three of those five events this weekend at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center. He captured the Tigers’ lone section title with a time of 47.94 in the 100 freestyle and also qualified individually with a third-place finish in the 50 freestyle.

Berg closed out the section meet by joining Eric Schimmel, Garrett Haugen and Brandon Dion for a third-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay. The team’s 3:18.08 clocking was good enough to meet the state standard.

Jonathan Bovee qualified for the state meet with a third-place score of 303.35 points in the 1-meter dive.

The Tigers just missed another state bid in the 200 freestyle relay where Schimmel, Haugen, Dion and Berg teamed up for a third-place finish. Dion had a fourth-place and school-record time of 53.44 while placing fourth in the 100 butterfly.

Austin Kueck placed fifth in the 200 individual medley and came back for another fifth-place finish in the 500 freestyle where he broke the five-minute barrier for the first time, clocking in at 4:58.94 in the prelims.

The 200 medley relay opened the finals with a sixth-place finish. Jake Bauerle swam a season-best time while placing seventh in the 100 breaststroke and Ben Gunderson was seventh in the 100 backstroke. Schimmel placed eighth in the 200 freestyle and Oscar Hanifl was eighth in the 1-meter dive.
