Rochester John Marshall beat runner-up Rochester Mayo 381-374 for the team title. The Tigers were third in the seven-team field with 316 points.

"Keeping with Lady Tiger tradition, we had an awesome prelims and an even better finals," Farmington coach Jen Marshall said. "Girls were dropping chunks of time in every event. As a team we dropped a total of 88.83 seconds in prelims. Simply put, amazing."

Kaitlyn O'Reilly captured the Tigers' lone section title, winning the 100 backstroke in a section-record time of 57.18 seconds. O'Reilly also qualified for state individually with a second-place, school-record 2:06.78 clocking in the 200 individual medley, and as part of the third-place 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays.

Joining O'Reilly in the 200 medley relay were Abby Haugen, Zoe Avestruz and Robin Ellis. The foursome finished in a school-record time of 1:49.01. O'Reilly opened the 400 freestyle relay in a school-record 100 freestyle split of 54.07 before Avestruz, Cora Ruzicka and Kirsten Kracke finished the race in a school-record 3:36.05.

Avestruz added two state-qualifying swims. She will complete at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center for the first time after placing fourth in the 100 butterfly in 59.20 and fourth in the 50 freestyle in a school-record 24.27.

Also cutting lots of time were Victoria Resch in the 100 breaststroke, Ruzicka in the 500 freestyle, Chloe Holton in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly, Sarah O'Reilly in the 200 and 500 freestyles and Ellis in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke.

The Tigers added three other top-six finishes. Nikki Cayard was sixth in the 1-meter dive, Kracke placed fifth in the 100 freestyle and the 200 freestyle relay team of Ellis, Haugen, Ellie Sundet and Kracke came in fifth in the finals.

The Class 2A State prelims get under way at 6 p.m. Friday night in Minneapolis. The Tigers earned their highest-ever finish last year, placing 17th with 43 points, as O'Reilly and senior Elizabeth Wolfe each earned All-State honors.
