Northfield won the meet with 433 1/2 points, 27 1/2 more than runner-up Chanhassen. The Tigers scored more points than they did last year's meet, but fell from second to third with 354 1/2 points. Chaska (291), Shakopee (270 1/2), Red Wing (186 1/2), New Prague (94) and Holy Angels (44) also competed.

Twenty of Farmington's points came in the 100 backstroke, where Kaitlyn O'Reilly tied a 19-year-old conference record with a winning time of 1 minute, eight-hundredths of a second. Earlier in the meet, O'Reilly placed third in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:14.72.

The sophomore also helped the Tigers to a pair of runner-up relay finishes. She started the meet by joining Abby Haugen, Zoe Avestruz and Hannah Seitzinger for a second-place time of 1:54.45 in the 200 medley relay, then came back to team up with Avestruz, Cora Ruzicka and Kirsten Kracke for a runner-up 3:46.09 clocking in the 400 freestyle relay.

Avestruz and Ruzicka each added a pair of top-5 individual finishes. Avestruz, a freshman, was third in the 50 freestyle and fourth in the 100 freestyle, and Ruzicka came in third in the 500 freestyle and fourth in the 100 butterfly.

Ruzicka led three Farmington swimmers in the top 10 in the 500 freestyle. Ellie Sundet was ninth in 5:49.96 and Sara Kintner 10th in 5:50.48.

Kracke placed fifth in the 200 freestyle in 2:03.01 and seventh in the 100 freestyle in 56.49, and joined forces with Seitzinger, Sundet and Haugen for a third-place showing in the 200 freestyle relay.

Haugen added a fourth-place swim in the 100 breaststroke and Seitzinger was eighth in the 50 freestyle. Other top-10 finishes were turned in by Robin Ellis (8th, 100 backstroke), Kendall Novak (8th, 1-meter dive), Nikki Cayard (9th, 1-meter dive) and Chloe Holton (10th, 100 butterfly).

The next time the Tigers complete, state tournament bids will be on the line. The Section 1AA swimming and diving prelims get under way next Thursday at the Rochester Recreation Center. The Class 2A State Meet begins the following Thursday at the U of M Aquatics Center.
