"Rochester is a formidable tennis town," Farmington coach Jack Olwell said. "Of the four singles and four doubles teams advancing to the section finals are all from a Rochester school except the two singles players from Red Wing, and we know how good they are."

Farmington's season-long No. 1 singles player Blake Olmschied became the first Tiger player to advance to the second round in five years, defeating his opening-round opponent from Owatonna 6-2, 6-2. He then lost to Lakeville North's No. 1 player, 3-6, 6-4, 1-6.

"Blake came from a break down to win the last four games and the second set and was poised to take the match when the Lakeville player came to life and elevated his game," Olwell said.

Farmington's other representative in the singles bracket - Ben Cline - fell 1-6, 1-6. The doubles teams of Jeff Zakoski and Tyler Olson and Ivan Rodriguez and Bennett Lagro lost in straight sets, as well.
