Tennis: Tigers swept at Burnsville

Farmington's No. 1 doubles team of Danielle Froehling and Lucy Gentilini kept their match close in a meet otherwise dominated by Burnsville, 7-0, last Wednesday in Burnsville.

The tandem, playing together due to an injury to Katie Burgess, won its first set 6-4 before falling 4-6 (3-10).

"Here was a great match," Farmington coach Jack Olwell said. "Danielle matched their firepower and volleying skills while Luch kept them off the net and off balance with some nice lobs. Marvelous effort for a pair that had never played together."

The Tigers lost the four singles matches by a combined score of 48-2, with single game victories going to Meghan Lindstrom and Melanie Kappes.

The Tigers play again tonight when they host Red Wing for a Missota Conference match at Boeckman Middle School.
