In their fifth match in five days, the Tigers swept four singles matches and closed out a 1-6 season in the league with a 5-2 win over New Prague at the Boeckman Middle School courts.

The top three singles players all won in straight sets. Bennett Lagro held on 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 singles and Jake Bauer and Ivan Rodriguez each cruised 6-1, 6-0. Bauer closed out the regular season with the Tigers' best individual record at 5-7.

At No. 4 singles, Jon Zakoski came from behind to win 5-7, 6-1 and 10-2.

The most exciting match of the afternoon came at No. 2 doubles where Grady Hauswirth and Austin Rau rallied from an 0-3 deficit in the third set to win 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.

"They showed a lot of heart in not being discouraged by a tough stretch of games," Farmington coach Jack Olwell said. "Both Grady and Austin hit some game-saving shots at crucial times."

New Prague claimed the other two doubles matches in three sets.

The Tigers opened the Section 1AA team tournament Tuesday at Owatonna. The Section 1AA individual tournament gets under way next Thursday.
