Two people died and two were injured in a head-on collision Tuesday morning on Highway 59 near Mahnomen.

No names were released Tuesday evening pending notification of relatives.

The driver of the first vehicle (a 1992 Buick LeSabre) was an 81-year-old Bejou resident.

He died as the result of the accident, as did the driver of the second vehicle, a 1985 Chevy motor home driven by a 67-year-old Ile Des Chenes, Manitoba, resident.

Two passengers in the motor home, a 66-year-old Ile Des Chenes resident and a 64-year-old whose address was not available, suffered "non life-threatening injuries," according to the State Patrol.

The accident occurred on dry blacktop about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday on Highway 59 some three miles north of the city of Mahnomen.

The accident is under investigation. The Mahnomen County Sheriff's Department provided assistance.
