Two killed in Highway 52 crash

Two people died and one other was injured July 27 when a car driven by a 21-year-old St. Paul woman was broadsided on Highway 52 in Hampton.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol the woman, Lui Thein of St. Paul, was turning eastbound onto 280th Street and did not yield to a northbound car driven by a 23-year-old Rochester woman. Both vehicles went into the ditch.

Neither Thein nor either of the two people in the northbound car was injured in the crash, but two of Thien's passengers, 48-year-old La Yin and 48-year-old Naw Wah, both of St. Paul, were thrown from the car and killed.

A third passenger in Thein's car, 18-year-old Paller Htoo of St. Paul, was injured in the crash but according to the State Patrol the injuries were not life threatening.
