National Day of Prayer

There will be a National Day of Prayer observance from 6:55 to 8 p.m. May 7 at Rambling River Park. Pastors from local churches will lead the gathered in prayer for the community, state and nation.

Family storytime

The Farmington Public Library invites children of all ages to a family storytime from 10:30 to 11 a.m. May 8. Storytimes usually include stories, fingerplays, a movie and a craft.

Genealogy class

The Dakota City genealogy class will meet at 2 p.m. May 9 at Ahlberg Hall on the Dakota County Fairgrounds. Anyone interested in family history is invited to attend. For more information call Marlys Guildner at 651-463-8397 or Dakota City at 651-460-8050.

Last Hope garage sale

Last Hope, a Farmington-based no-kill animal rescue, will have a fund-raising garage sale May 13-16 just inside the Third Street entrance of the Dakota County Fairgrounds. The sale will run from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 13-15 and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 16.

55+ open house at the library

In celebration of Older Americans Month, the Dakota County Farmington Library is hosting an open house for people 55 and older from 10:30 a.m. to noon May 14. Prime Time Players will perform old-time radio programs and refreshments will be served.

Waggin Tales

The Farmington Public Library will hold a Waggin' Tales program from 10:30 a.m. to noon May 16. The event lets children practice their reading skills by reading to therapy dogs.

Music Sunday

Faith United Methodist Church will present Music Sunday at 10:30 a.m. May 17. There will be choir, piano, chimes, children singing and violin music.

The church is located at 710 Eighth St.

Garden party and style show

There will be a garden party luncheon and style show May 19 at St. Michael's Catholic Church. The event will raise money to buy handbells for a newly forming handbell choir at the church.

Baby storytime

The Farmington Public Library will hold a storytime for babies up to 24 months, their caregivers and siblings from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. May 22. The event includes stories, songs, bounces and playtime.
