VFW baseball: Offense falters as Farmington falls
Coming off a 17-2 rout of Rosemount that gained it sole possession of first place in the division, the Farmington VFW baseball team played a game it would rather forget about Thursday in West St. Paul.
Missing some key players due to a football camp, the Tigers fielded a lineup that churned out just six hits in a 4-1 loss at St. Croix Lutheran.
Buck Lester drove home the team's lone run when he followed Ryan Giebel's base hit with an RBI single in the second. Lester finished with two hits.
St. Croix Lutheran took advantage of a Farmington defensive miscue to score all four of its runs in the fourth. After a pair of walks and a single loaded the bases, two runs scored on an error. Two more runs came across on a double that made it 4-1.
Landon Nielsen started and went the first four innings. Kyle Johnson came on in the fifth and worked two scoreless frames.
Post 7662 (10-4-1) will try to get back in the win column tonight when it travels to Richfield.
