Volleyball: 16 see the court in sweep of Packers
Just about every Farmington player that made the long bus ride down to Austin got a chance to see the court in the Tigers' season-opening sweep of the Packers last Thursday.
Sixteen players cracked the box score as the young Tigers rolled to a 25-12, 25-12, 25-20 victory.
Austin led just twice in the three-game match, first at 3-2 in Game 1 and then at 6-5 in Game 3.
Eleven players recorded kills for the Tigers, led by Summer Skokan, who slammed down six in 11 attacks. Courtney Johnston added four kills and Emma Fahning, Morgan Cecchettini and Emily Nelson each had three.
The team's setting duties were also shared as Mia Johnston recorded nine assists, Ruthanne Schmitt seven and Lexi Wenskaug five. Schmitt also supplied six of the team's 12 service aces.
Johnston and Fahning led the team with six digs apiece and Skokan, Nelson, Wenskaug and Rachel Eckert added five apiece.
The Tigers (1-0) hosted Irondale Tuesday and are back at Tiger Gym tonight against Rochester John Marshall.
