Free community meal

Ground Round in Farmington will offer a free community meal from noon to 2 p.m. Nov. 28. The meal is free to people who need a meal, who don’t have family nearby to celebrate Thanksgiving with or who just wants to stop by. There will be a meal of turkey, corn, rolls and apple pie. Ground Round is located at 20700 Chippendale Ave.



Live music

There will be a Black Friday musician jam from 8 to 10 p.m. Nov. 29 at Dunn Bros. Coffee in Farmington. Dunn Bros. is located at 20700 Chippendale Ave.

Charity sale

Father Kaesen Knights of Columbus Council No. 5199 will hold their 52nd annual charity sale at 7 p.m. Nov. 29 at St. John’s Education Center in Vermillion. Items for sale include homemade sausage, corn and soybean seed, gift certificates and tickets and hotel stays for sporting events. More than 99 percent of the items are new. Proceeds from the auction will support a number of causes.

Free flu shots

Minnesota Hindu Milan Mandir will offer free flu shots to all uninsured and under-insured people from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1. The program is sponsored by Fairview Hospital. Minnesota Hindu Milan Mandir is located at 501 Walnut St.

Veterans’ dinner

There will be a dinner for veterans at 6 p.m. Dec. 2 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Farmington. All veterans, young and old, are invited. Call 651-463-2248 to RSVP.

Christmas in the Village

Visitors can celebrate an old-fashioned Christmas at Dakota City Heritage Village’s annual Christmas in the Village event. Christmas in the Village includes horse-drawn trolley rides through a beautifully decorated turn-of-the-century village, visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, holiday crafts and more. The event will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Dec. 6 and 13 and from 1 to 8 p.m. Dec. 7, 8, 14 and 15.

Holiday boutique

Trinity Care Center will hold a holiday boutique from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 6 and 7. Vendors will display a variety of items from wall hangings to doll clothes to bakeware and more.

Trinity is located at 3410 210th St.

Cultural entertainment and dinner

Minnesota Hindu Milan Mandir will hold a dinner and a night of cultural entertainment from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Dec. 6. Dinner starts at 5:30 and the show at 6:30. Entertainment will include classical dances and a fashion show. Michelle Leonard
Michelle Leonard joined the Woodbury Bulletin staff in November, 2014, after 14 years covering news for the Bulletin's sister publication, the Farmington Rosemount Independent Town Pages.  Michelle earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications: News-Editorial from Mankato State University in 1991. She is an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary Clifford Larson Unit 189 of Farmington, and is the 2014-15 Third District President to the American Legion Auxiliary Department of Minnesota. Michelle is also the volunteer coordinator for the Minnesota Newspaper Museum which is open annually during the Minnesota State Fair. She has earned Minnesota Newspaper Association awards in Investigative Reporting, Local News Coverage, Feature Photography and Column Writing.
